The Juan Maclean is John Maclean, the sole thinking man of the overblown electro/DJ sphere. One would say he is an absorbed man, but in no way withdrawn. Getting to know the real John Maclean is quite easy actually, when you know his desires --  electronics, equipment, English, vast nature and technology top the list.

AB: Solos or Choruses?

JM: Choruses.

 

 

 

AB: The Human League or Gary Numan?

JM: That's a tough one. Right now, the Human League.

 

 

AB: The present of the future?

JM: The future. The present has never really seemed all that great.

 

 

AB:  Leon Theremin or Robert Moog?

JM: Another tough one. Robert Moog, because he's responsible for creating half the synthesizers I own.

 

 

AB: Berlin or New York?

JM: New York, Berlin is depressing.

 

 

AB: Laptops or Guitars?

JM: Guitars for sure. Laptops are boring.

 

 

AB: Robots or Humans?

JM: Robots, there's no emotional baggage to navigate.

 

 

 

 

 

AB: Early morning or late night?

JM: That's really the same thing for me, I'm doing work until 5 or 6 am.

 

 

AB: Adverbs or Adjectives?

JM: Adverbs, because they have to do with action.

 

 

AB: Chick bands or chick singers?

JM: Oh man, this is going to sound bad, but chick bands are usually not good. So chick singers, easily. There are plenty of girl singers I love.

 

 

AB: Clubs or Pubs:

JM: Pubs. I'm sick of clubs.

 

 

AB: Piano or keyboard:

JM: Keyboard, even my piano sounds are synthetic.

 

 

AB: Black or White?

JM: White. We've taken to wearing all white on stage and the album art is all white. We're on an all-white aesthetic right now.

 

 

AB: Digital Prints or Darkroom?

JM: Dark Rooms, I'm a huge fam of film.

 

 

AB: Brooklyn or Philadelphia?

JM: Is that a trick question? I guess Brooklyn.

 

 

AB: Metro or Taxi?

JM: I love trains in general.
