Lady Sovereign + Chester French + Hollywood Holt
Lady Sovereign, Chester French, and Hollywood Holt rocked out the “tiny” stage at First Unitarian Church in downtown Philly last night.
After receiving crowd surfing 101 lessons from Chi-town native, Hollywood Holt, the MC was dropped on his first attempt to display his teachings. After a few laughs and a little help getting back on stage, Hollywood returned to what he does best: spittin’ hot lines over eclectic beats.
D.A. Wallach and Maxwell Drummey, the duo behind Chester French, blew the crowd away with their retro-pop mix, soul and rock influenced sound, which left fans screaming: “Encore”! Unfortunately time prevented the duo from coming back on stage. ‘She Loves Everybody was a crowd favorite.
Although Lady Sovereign’s sound system gave her problems at the start of her show - which caused her to walk off stage – this did not stop the firecracker rapper from London. Once the problem was fixed, she apologized to the crowd and continued the show as if nothing happened. Known for her wit, charm and sass…Lady Sovereign unleashed lyrical venom with new songs and a couple of throwbacks for good measure.
For those who were UNABLE to make last nights’ soiree, you missed an evening of artists displaying their amazing musicality, which is bound to inspire future sounds in the music industry.
Check out pics after the jump for the evenings’ highlights.
