College Hoops 2K8 is back for another season and this year it's all about teamwork. Team dynamics have been fully taken into account: where, in other games, a single player's skill may eclipse everyone else on the court, here, the effectiveness of the team is entirely created by playing together. Game play is smooth, similar to previous editions but with some interesting new changes. Finally, players close to the basket have the ability to perform realistic lay-ups, a feature that seemed to escape past games. A new "lock on D" control allows your defense to lock on to the player with the ball, letting you stay closer to jack the ball if your opponent is playing off point. The other breakthrough is a "6th man advantage" that riles up the fans of the home team, giving the players increased accuracy and the ability to lick off faster shots. For those lacking born baller skillz, the game also offers an All-American training mode, getting you accustomed to the game play while giving you a chance to build up skill points for your players. For those seasoned players looking for more, this years Legacy Mode has more than enough options, players can choose from not only the same high school pool but also the Amateur Leagues.
GAMEPLAY: 8.2
Just as smooth as the previous with better D options and an ill training mode for the rookies.
GRAPHICS: 8.1
You can see sweat falling off of the players' faces. At one point after a hard foul, my player's nose actually started to bleed.
SOUND: 7.9
You have to love the sound of squeaky shoes on the court. The crowd's wild cheering gives you an almost dirty feeling of accomplishment after sticking a big basket.
VAULE: 8.0
It's got everything you want from a college hoops game Create Zone, Legacy mode, and a high caliber of game play and graphics. That shit scored off the charts.
OVERALL: 8.0
Honestly, I am not a huge college hoops guy but this game was seriously on point.
