Putting pen to paper has never been so easy. If you’re a writer or a college student, taking notes is probably part of your everyday life. You can use pens, notebooks, an audio recorder, or a laptop, but who wants to lug all that stuff around? Now you can carry a computer and microphone in your pen. The Livescribe Pulse Smartpen records audio while you write or draw and links the information together. If you forget the importance of what you wrote, can’t understand your own handwriting, or just couldn’t jot something down fast enough, you tap the pen on the special notebook paper and it will replay the exact recording of what was said at the time you made a particular notation. You can also upload a digital version of your notes on a personal Livescribe website along with your audio, search for keywords, and publish copies online. For $150 you get 1GB of memory, computer software, and a 100-sheet notebook of the special “dot paper,” or you can double the memory for $50 more. Sorry Mac users, but the Smartpen only works with PCs…for now. Get more info or buy online at Livescribe.com.

I've been using the pen since it was (finally) made available earlier this year. It's very useful for me professionally as I do interviews and field research. BUT the pen has a fatal flaw - if you put it down, it rolls, frequently to the floor. Why a pen designed to record was not designed to sit still is beyond me.
