Walking into Reward Boutique, one might think of walking right out. I think everyone has walked into a store or boutique in Philly (or anywhere really) and felt that the only thing they will be picking up is a few dirty looks and a not so warm “hello”; however, this is not one of those stores. Reward Boutique, located in Olde City, is a breath of fresh air. The moment I walk into the space, the owner Shari greets me as if we are old friends and tells me to take my time looking around. She smiles and goes back to unpacking new shipment. She doesn’t follow me around, or give me that eye telling me not to touch things. She just simply lets me shop.

Eyeing a pair of vintage boots resting on an old stack of books I’m a little afraid to look at the price. Against my better judgment I try them on and after admiring them in the mirror, I hastily look at the price. Fifty Bucks!!! I can’t believe my eyes! I move on to the women’s section and pick up a grey Wood Wood oversized jacket priced at $425 and realize that prices range from unrealistically cheap to slightly expensive. With male and female brands ranging from Opening Ceremony and april ’77 to Philadelphia’s own Bert Lorenzo, Reward is definitely a treat. And for those vintage-only buffs, this boutique has a whole section dedicated to just that. In addition to amazing clothes, Shari informed me that Reward will also be hosting the first of many in store installations, events, and bands pertaining to Philly's growing music, fashion, and art scene. Their first event begins next week, Friday the 10th and will feature Brooklyn-based band CHAIRLIFT, plus the first 50 guests will receive hand silk-screened posters, goodies, and drinks courtesy of Sailor Jerry. So whether you save up for that “got to have it item” or are just in the neighborhood, Reward Boutique has something for you.
