The Germantown Poetry Festival '08

What: Poetic Justice: LIVE from Germantown Avenue! is back for its second year. Formed by teachers and activists in northwest Philadelphia, the Festival brings youth and neighbors together in an explosive celebration of the spoken word. Teenagers study the craft of poetry and performance all year, and discover their shared humanity is a way that helps bridge the divides of race, class, gender, and sexual orientation. Their work together culminates in this unique celebration of National Poetry Month.
Musical guests include, Nucultures, Leana Song, Mellow Veneer and Philadelphia Slick. Poetry by Jacob Winterstein, Just Greg, AMMO, Elijah, and other special guests, and DJ LADY JAE will be spinning reggae all day. All proceeds will go to making the Germantown Poetry Festival free and open to the public.
