Style Watch: Spring Fever Edition

Checking out Philly's Most Stylish

Over the past few weeks, the weather hasn’t been able to make up its mind. Some days the air had that winter chill, while other days gave Philly a sneak peak at spring temperatures. While the weather may not be able to decide what it wants to do, Philadelphia’s most stylish know exactly how to adapt to the every changing weather. Combining a hybrid of winter/spring clothing and accessories 215 Magazine found those guys and girls on the street who are mixing it up but showing a pop of Spring Fever colors.

We spotted Frank Danay in Rittenhouse Square Park who was enjoying the nice weather during his lunch break. What we appreciated about his style was his mixture of bright spring colors with warm winter accessories, such as his gloves and heavy socks. His outfit for the day centered around his chinos because they are relatively new and you can almost pair any color shirt to pants with a khaki/light brown color.  The brown corduroy blazer is from Daffy’s. Danay’s favorite piece of his outfit are his new glasses from Warby Parker, and we have to agree that they look new and fresh.

This very stylish fashionista was spotted browsing a clothing rack on East Passayunk Drive. We immediately ran up to her because it was a particularly cold day, but her layered outfit looked warm and comfortable with splashes of spring colors in her accessories. Many of her pieces are from American Apparel, the knee-high socks and the gray sweatshirt, which she got much cheaper at a thrift store in Philly. The two pieces we loved the most were her boots which she acquired on a trip to Amsterdam when she was 14 and her Kelly green hat which she found in an antique store in New York City. Her outfit was spot on and this was one of our favorite winter/spring hybrid outfits.

Sharif Valentine was another stylish guy we found in Rittenhouse Square Park. The thing that caught our eye is his relaxed approach to business attire. He was going on a few interviews that day, but was planning to get freaky that night. His outfit is a perfect example of day to night wear. The blazer/jacket can easily be taken off for the dance floor. He found the blue blazer for $9 at a thrift shop, Second Mile in West Philly. His jeans are from the same store and were purchased for $6. The jeans are a unique find because they came with the writing “always” and “whatever” sharpied on them. With a lighter blue chambray button-down underneath the blazer, Valentine is definitely rocking the up and coming blue trends you will be seeing on the runway and in the streets.

This multi-talented chick, Penina Bernstein had a cool spring look with her thrifted dress adorned with bright red buttons, Old Navy cardigan, brown and leather accessories all topped off with some heavy winter boots. This vintage dress collector’s inspiration comes primarily from different decades and her mood but primarily from the dresses she finds in various thrift shops around the city and through her travels. One thing we really loved about her outfit was her very unique necklace, which has been passed down through her family for years. If you look close enough it’s a necklace with corn stalks.

We were really excited here at 215 Magazine to see Philadelphians bring out their most stylish and unique outfits during the confusing weather. We loved everyone's look and personalities. Watch out New York City, Philly is up and coming in the fashion world with our ever growing young population who know how to stand out on the street.
