Bounce TV, 1st free African American Broadcast TV network Launches in the Illadelph

by Sasha C. Mendez
Philadelphia is now the official home to Bounce TV, the first African American broadcast network.
This month a release party was held at Two Liberty Place to celebrate the launch of the network. Bounce TV has gone live, airing on Lenfest Broadcasting's WMCN-TV in Philadelphia.
Among the attendees of the launch were the networks founders, which include Martin Luther King III, Andrew “Bo” Young III, (Ambassador Young, additional founder was unable to attend) and Rob Hardy and Will Packer, co-founders of Rainforest Films.
As one can expect from this dynamic mix of collaborative founders, Bounce TV is expected to be a leader in quality content for its intended audience of black viewers ages 25 to 54.
The network is making the transition from standard definition to high definition on the broadcast digital signals of local television stations.
Additionally, Bounce TV offers their own array of original programing, which will include mix of theatrical motion pictures, sporting events, documentaries, specials, inspirational faith-based programs, off-network series, and original programming.
Education Initiatives will play a heavy factor in the content production both on a local and national scale.
“I believe that a network, while its primary purpose is entertainment, can have a balance so that there is information or education, or ‘edutainment,’ that is created by certain content,” said King during the release launch.
